Coronavirus Update
Following guidance from both the Methodist Connexion centrally, and our Acting Superintendent Minister, Bryan Coates, the covid restart group have sadly decided that we need to take action to reduce the risks to those attending worship from this Sunday.
If you are attending worship in person, please:
- wear a mask (this is now a legal requirement unless you are exempt)
- use hand sanitiser
- as far as possible, respect social distancing – we may ask you to sit socially distanced.
- if you are able, please consider doing a Lateral Flow Test.
- do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
- wrap up warm – the doors will be open.
Sadly, we have decided that we can no longer meet for coffee and fellowship after morning service. The Fairtrade stall will continue to be available
We have also had to cancel mince pies after the Carol service tonight. Our apologies to those who have made or bought mince pies for this evening.
Both of this week’s services are livestreamed so please watch from home if you are able to.

New(ish!) to SMc? Welcome to the family!
Come along to the ‘Compass’ Course in the New Year.
‘Compass’ is valuable for those new to the Methodist church, those who have been coming for a long time and want to try to make some sense of things and for long-time Methodists who want to re-energise their discipleship.
Please contact Anna if you are interested, and together we will work out the best time and means of gathering. At the end of the course there will be the opportunity to be received into membership.
If you have come to SMc from another Methodist church and would like to transfer your membership, please contact Anna. We will hold a service to welcome all new and transferring members in the New Near
Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) appeal for Afghanistan
Afghanistan is heading for catastrophe this winter. Children are dying today, and a million more under the age of five are at risk of dying over the next three months.
More than eight million people are on the brink of famine. Years of conflict, the Covid-19 pandemic, a change of government and the worst drought in 27 years have led to catastrophic hunger. The situation will only get worse as the freezing weather sets in.
DEC’s Afghanistan Crisis Appeal is funding work to:
-
Deliver emergency food and cash to hungry families
-
Provide urgent nutrition to young children and mothers
-
Support healthcare facilities to treat malnutrition
-
Provide winter kits to help displaced families stay warm
